I was not short of opportunity. I was short of somewhere that would teach me.
Before Rsolute, I spent about a year in property. I knew early on that academics were not my strongest advantage next to some of my peers, so I decided a real, practical skill set was what would carry me. I was young, with little experience and almost no network, and property was one of the few paths I knew about. So I took the leap.
What I did not have was a system, or anyone to teach me the fundamentals of selling. Most of what I did was putting money into advertisements and hoping something came back. After a year, most of what I had to show for it came from rentals rather than sales. That year taught me the thing I actually needed to know: I was not looking for another opportunity. I was looking for an environment that could teach me the skills, the structure and the mindset to grow.
Then my mother had two strokes, and my father had to step up as her main carer. I am an only child. The responsibility I always assumed was years away had arrived.
It showed me how much having options matters. The difference between private and public care, the choices in front of you, how long it can take to be seen. Stability is not about having more. It is about having a choice when the people you love need one.
